Dear Friends of the Kindergarten Forum,
At our January Forum we met the charming puppets that live in Jennifer’s basket and story apron appearing one by one out of the many pockets to say their verse or sing a song. Although we would love to create such a magical apron to enchant our own children, it would take longer than a day’s Forum. Instead, Jennifer will lead us in a puppetry workshop to make simple fleece puppets to live in an apron’s pockets or a basket and share secrets of this wonderful art form. We will look at apron patterns to sew at home and explore the creative possibilities of this interactive, portable stage. Jennifer will show us how to bring little story poems, rhymes and songs to life with puppets using the apron, a basket and silks. The $70 fee includes puppetry materials. Please bring a sewing kit (scissors, needle and thread), and a basket to hold the puppets. Bring a poem/song/rhyme you would like your puppet to say or sing. You may also bring along puppets you already have who need a little spark of imagination.
